New Delhi: After nearly a year-long wait, the iconic MS Dhoni is all set to return to competitive cricket in IPL 2025, donning the famous yellow jersey for Chennai Super Kings. Ahead of his eagerly anticipated comeback, the World Cup-winning captain was seen paying a visit to a temple.
Reports reveal that Dhoni visited the Maa Dewri Mandir in his hometown, Ranchi.
A video of Dhoni praying and offering his respects at the temple has since gone viral on X (formerly Twitter). In the footage, Dhoni is surrounded by fans eager to catch a glimpse of the legendary skipper.

Dhoni had also visited the Maa Dewri Mandir in February of the previous year, before the IPL 2024 season. After guiding CSK to five IPL titles, he stepped down from his leadership role last year. The wicketkeeper-batter, who has been a part of every IPL season since its inception, recognizes that age is taking a toll on his body.
“I am not as fit as I used to be. A lot of effort now needs to be there on what you are eating and I am doing very specific things to be fit for cricket. We are not fast bowlers, so our requirements are not that intense. So, what helps me in between eating the right thing and going to the gym, is playing a lot of sports,” Dhoni said during an event recently.
MS Dhoni was retained by CSK ahead of IPL 2025 mega auctions as an uncapped player.
